Thimbles are used to protect steel wire rope, fibre rope or synthetic rope. They are available in various models and sizes. We can split every thimble, such as massive thimbles, NEN 74 thimbles, intertwined thimbles, etc. However, for practically all purposes the normal profile thimble suffices.

If a wire with a split thimble should be of a very precise length, the order should state how the desired length has been measured. It is customary to state the dimensions as measured from the inside of the thimble (also called the ‘efficient or permanent length’).
